Living in the Now with Yeshua

New Wine and Living Bread — Luke 22:19–20
New Wine and Living Bread — Luke 22:19–20

“Through YHWH’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22–23 NKJV)

“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:18–19 NKJV)

“Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Messiah Yeshua.” (Philippians 3:13–14 NKJV)

The Dawn of Renewal

Morning has always been a sacred threshold. In creation’s rhythm, darkness yields to light, and silence gives way to song. Each dawn is not merely the continuation of yesterday, but the declaration of something new. For those who walk in Covenant with Yeshua, the rising of the sun is a reminder that His Mercies are fresh, His Compassions are renewed, and His Faithfulness has not faltered even once.

This is the essence of New Wine. It is the taste of freshness, the cleansing of the inner vessel, the fragrance of transformation. It does not come from yesterday’s regrets or tomorrow’s anxieties, but from the living Presence of the Bridegroom who pours Himself out upon His people through His Ruach HaKodosh.

Laying Yesterday on the Altar

Regret is a cruel companion. It whispers of failure, magnifies weakness, and rehearses wounds. Yet the altar of Covenant is the place where regret loses its voice. When Yeshua gave His life as the Covenant Sacrifice, He did not merely cover sin, He consumed it in His own Body on the tree (1 Peter 2:24). To carry yesterday’s failures into today is to deny the sufficiency of His offering.

At the altar of Love, yesterday is surrendered. The Blood of the Lamb silences accusation, and Fountains of Living Water wash the conscience clean (Hebrews 9:14). We are not called to dwell on what we cannot change, but to live in the unbroken now where Yeshua reigns.

The Futility of Controlling Tomorrow

Just as regret can chain us to the past, anxiety seeks to bind us to the future. How many of our thoughts spiral into “what if”? Yet Yeshua warned, “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:34 NKJV).

The future belongs to Elohim alone. The Bride’s role is not to control what is coming, but to remain faithful in the present moment. In the mystery of Covenant, the Bridegroom has already secured the end from the beginning. He holds the scroll of history, Sealed and Certain (Revelation 5:1–5). To attempt control is to reach for what only He can govern. To rest in His Hand is to walk in trust.

The Power of the Now

If yesterday is surrendered and tomorrow is entrusted, what remains? The now. And in the now, there is unlimited power and grace.

The Ruach HaKodosh does not dwell in the shadows of memory nor in the projections of imagination. The Spirit of the Holy One abides in the living present, applying the Covenant to the heart, writing the Ten Words within, and transforming the inner person into the likeness of Yeshua (2 Corinthians 3:3).

In the now, we can choose. In the now, we can love. In the now, we can forgive, repent, worship, and obey. The now is where faith becomes action, where hope anchors the soul, where love becomes tangible. It is here that perfection is tasted, not because we are flawless, but because Yeshua is Complete, and we are in Him.

Bringing Every Thought Captive

Paul reminds us that warfare is waged not in flesh but in thought:

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Messiah” (2 Corinthians 10:4–5 NKJV).

To live in the now is to take hold of the thought-life. Regret says, “You are unworthy.” Anxiety says, “You will fail again.” But the Covenant Word says, “You are Mine” (Isaiah 43:1). The Obedience of Messiah is our Shield, our Victory, and our Peace. In the present moment, every thought must bow to His Nature.

The New Wine of Covenant

New Wine is more than a poetic image; it is the reality of Yeshua’s Covenant poured into fragile vessels made new. At the Last Supper He declared, “This cup is the New Covenant in My blood, which is shed for you” (Luke 22:20 NKJV). Each morning, as we awaken, that same Covenant Promise is renewed, not by ritual, but by His Living Presence.

To drink the New Wine is to receive His Life afresh. It is to be cleansed by Fountains of Living Water, purified from yesterday’s dust, and filled for today’s journey. It is the taste of forgiveness, the fragrance of intimacy, and the strength of obedience.

Pressing Onward

Paul’s exhortation in Philippians 3 is a testimony of living in the now: “Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal.” The language is covenantal, he is not chasing personal ambition but the “upward call” of Yeshua, the Bridegroom’s voice that beckons His Bride higher.

The past is left behind not in denial but in faith. The future is anticipated not in fear but in hope. The present is embraced not in self-reliance but in surrender. This is the journey to the heart of Yeshua, one step at a time, one breath at a time, one moment at a time.

Living Application

To live in the now requires practice. Each morning, when the heart awakens, pause before the flood of thought. Acknowledge the Presence of Yeshua. Offer yesterday’s failures to His Altar. Entrust tomorrow’s unknowns into His Hand. And then, with open hands, receive the New Wine of today, His Grace, His Spirit, His Love poured fresh.

Throughout the day, when regret knocks, return to the Altar. When anxiety rises, look to the Throne. When distraction comes, breathe in the Ruach and bring every thought captive to His Obedience. Each moment is a new opportunity for surrender, a new invitation to intimacy.

Bridegroom Yeshua, You are my morning light and my eternal covenant. I lay yesterday upon Your altar, trusting that Your blood has cleansed and Your mercy has covered. I surrender tomorrow into Your hand, knowing that You hold the scroll of all things.

Fill me now with Your New Wine. Wash me with Fountains of Living Water. Bring my thoughts captive to Your Nature. Teach me to live in the present moment with faith, hope, and love. Let my steps today reflect Your Will, and let my heart rest in Your Embrace. Amen.
